Grégoire Lebreton – Siemens Gamesa

Revolutionising wind turbine blade manufacturing with TURBO

Grégoire Lebreton, a process and materials engineer at Siemens Gamesa, is at the forefront of the challenge to transform the production of wind turbine blades, making them more reliable, efficient, and sustainable, using zero-defect manufacturing (ZDM) technologies.

Representing the TURBO project, he will take the stage at the Digital Manufacturing Industrial Workshop in Brussels on the 26th of March to reveal how advanced monitoring, simulation, and AI-driven decision-making can significantly reduce defects, waste, and production inefficiencies in wind turbine blade manufacturing.

A specialist in process health monitoring, vacuum-assisted resin transfer moulding (VARTM), and infusion simulation, Lebreton has worked with IRT Jules Verne and Siemens Gamesa, tackling critical challenges in blade layup and infusion processes. Based in Aalborg, Denmark, he is part of Siemens Gamesa’s global R&D team, driving innovation in composite manufacturing for wind energy.

At the event, he will present how TURBO is addressing the challenges of blade production by:
Enhancing process simulation to predict and mitigate defects before they occur
Implementing real-time monitoring to optimise infusion and curing processes
Reducing variability in operator-based tasks, minimising rework and scrap
Developing new non-destructive testing (NDT) and repair strategies for composites and coatings

Wind turbine blades are critical to Europe’s renewable energy transition, but manufacturing defects lead to costly rework, waste, and inefficiencies. By integrating digital tools and AI-driven decision support, TURBO is helping the industry achieve greater reliability, lower costs, and a more sustainable manufacturing approach.

As a key speaker, Lebreton will share insights into TURBO’s impact on the wind energy sector, making the case for data-driven, zero-defect strategies to revolutionise composite manufacturing.

Join us in Brussels on the 26th of March to explore how TURBO is shaping the future of defect-free, high-performance wind turbine blades.
